Dushmantha Chameera’s excellent bowling wasted – Gujarat Titans beat Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets

The edition of 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League Cricket Tournament, considered to be the highest commercial value tournament in the world of cricket, was grandly launched recently with the participation of a number of Sri Lankan superstar cricket stars.

Gujarat Titans beat Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets in the fourth match of the IPL today.

Sri Lanka fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera debut for Lucknow Super Giants today.

Titans won the toss and invited Lucknow to bat first.

Lucknow scored 158 runs for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of 20 overs.
Lucknow’s top scorer Deepak Hooda scored 55 off 41 balls.

Ayush Badoni scored 54 runs while Krunal Pandya scored 21 runs.

Mohammed Shami took 3 wickets while Varun Aaron took 2 wickets.

Chasing a target of 159, the Titans reached the target in 19 overs with 4 balls to spare.

Critics point out that the decision of Lucknow’s most successful fast bowler, Dushmantha Chamira, to bowl only 3 of 4 overs was the turning point of the match.

Dushmantha Chameera was able to burn Titans batsman Shubman Gil in his first over, crippling the opposition batsmen.

Undeterred, Dushmantha Chameera took a wicket off Vijey Shankar in his second innings, smashing two of the Titans’ main wickets for 25 runs.

Chamira was able to bring Lucknow back to Lucknow after conceding just nine runs in the 19th over , but the Titans secured the victory in the final over.

Dushmantha Chameera took two wickets while Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda and Avesh Khan took one wicket each.
